We were in desperate need of some lounging by a pool, and our self-catering flat not having a terrace, I booked us into the Grand Hotel Central, who supposedly has one of the best roof terrace in the city… and an infinity pool! Sunny & warm day at its best. We booked using the great Mr & Mrs Smith and one of the advantages was that we were able to check out as late as 3pm the next day and enjoy the pool a lot more.

Figured out that if we were going to stay in Barcelona for a bit, it would make sense to rent one of those self-catering flats for cheaper than a hotel room, and cook some nights for a bit to save money. Aspacios had a great choice of flats dotted around the city. We chose a flat in the district of Les Corts, half a mile from the Nou Camp stadium and very lively on match days. €90 a night on average.

Just arrived in Barcelona and stayed one night at Chic & Basic, c/Tallers, which is exactly what it says on the tin. Watch out for “Green” days and the 10% off the bill. Average room for €75.

Having booked two nights in Square, Brighton over New Year thru Mr & Mrs Smith, I had the great surprise to be upgraded from a double King room, to the exclusive reverse penthouse suite. A lovely end of the year 2009, and beginning of the year 2010… Thanks again guys!

Mexican themed hotel in South London, with a difference, check their chocolate and DVD collection. Also a nice honesty bar for late nights drinking. Website here.

Great birthday present tonight with a stay at Tuddenham Mill, and a wine tasting with the meal. On the plus side, we were upgraded to THE Mill room!

The nearby Holkham Hall has a deer park, where the male deers seemed to have felt the heavy rain coming way before everyone else, and gathered under a big tree.
