Charlie and Jamie were married at Anstey Hall, just outside Cambridge, and they chose me to capture their Anstey Hall wedding photography.
I’m often asked to photograph the bridal preparations at weddings, and this one was no exception. But I’m not usually asked to photograph the gentlemen of the wedding party on the kids’ slide in the garden! (And yes, you may have spotted that one of them isn’t actually a gentleman!) I loved the sense of humour that Charlie and Jamie brought to their special day.
Anstey Hall is a grade one listed building, once a country house but now a hotel. I’ve photographed several weddings there before and it’s a really charming building, any couple would be delighted to be married there.
Charlie looked fabulous, with a lace gown, bouquet of pale-yellow roses and tumbling black curls. Her bridesmaids were in emerald green.
The ceremony took place in the Venetian Ballroom and Charlie walked down the aisle on her father’s arm. I could see a few tears amongst the guests. A violinist played as the couple signed the register. Then it was time for confetti on the steps of Anstey House, photos of the newlyweds with their guests, a few celebratory hugs and kisses plus – of course – champagne!
The wedding breakfast took place back in the Venetian Ballroom, followed by speeches, lots of smiles and perhaps a few more tears, too. That’s one of the reasons I enjoy being a wedding photographer, weddings are such emotional days. Charlie and Jamie had planned some games including a version of Guess Who with photos of the guests and ‘stick the pin in the map’ to help the couple to decide where to go on Honeymoon.
Following the wedding breakfast, Jamie and Charlie hopped in a rickshaw, with ‘just married’ on the back and were taken to the marquee where the evening ended with an amazing live band.
