I was delighted when Tara and Paul asked me to be their Burloes Hall wedding photographer. They are a lovely couple and I’ve photographed the family before including portraits of Paul and his sisters and their partners, plus Paul and Tara’s engagement photos.
Tara and Paul were married at All Saints Church, Haslingfield, Cambridgeshire on July 7, 2018. This also happened to be the day that England was playing in the World Cup quarter-finals, meaning that the couple appeared in The Sun Newspaper!
Bridesmaids were in summery shades of blue, pink, lilac and green, with Paul and the guys looking great in pale blue suits with yellow ties. The yellow confetti was a nice touch, I managed to catch a great shot of the guests throwing confetti in the lane outside the church. Tara’s bouquet beautifully matched the colours in the bridesmaids’ dresses.
After the traditional church ceremony, we were off to Burloes Hall, a country house set in the rolling north Hertfordshire Hills, with Edwardian gardens bordered by beech trees. It’s still a family home to Sir Frances and Lady Newman, so it had a warmth you don’t always get from a hotel. The reception was in a marquee on the lawn, with a huge TV so we could keep up with that all-important England game.
A laid-back wedding breakfast with lots of laughter was followed by particularly emotional speeches, I had tears in my eyes during the groom’s speech, which was brilliantly delivered. Later there was a chance for more relaxed drinks with family and friends on the lawns around Burloes Hall. It was a beautiful summer evening, a perfect way to finish off the day. And the England team won the World Cup quarter-final, too!
Congratulations to Tara and Paul, I hope you have many happy years together. If you are looking for a Burloes Hall wedding photographer, do not hesitate to contact me, I would love to be back there again!
