A wedding photographer Linton dream: It’s an old windmill, but it could well have been a castle, its large and imposing tower providing a stunning background for Arushi and Peter’s July wedding reception. The couple had chosen the grounds of this cosy cottage adjacent to a windmill as the venue for their reception, because of its unique combination of being both intimate and dramatic at the same time.
But first, there was the ceremony at Shire Hall, Cambridge. A lovely, laughter-filled affair with immediate family and friends, the ceremony was beautiful. Arushi had so much joy in her eyes as she walked towards Peter, and Peter’s mile-wide grin as he turned and saw his bride told me this was going to be a really fun day. And it was. I felt so lucky to be able to capture the joy in that room, the smiles and laughter ringing out as the couple took their vows and exchanged rings.
Lots of kisses and cuddles later, the couple and guests emerged into the warm sunshine. Even after years of being a Cambridge wedding photographer in Linton, the delightful landscape never ceases to delight. On this day, it gave me the freedom to frame the couple in luxuriant greenery and endless blue, atop the hill at Shire Hall, and around the peaceful and beautiful grounds of the cottage where the windmill stood in the background like a watchful guardian angel.
The reception was in a marquee tent on the cottage grounds. Arushi and Peter couldn’t have had better weather if they had ordered it; the sunshine and bright blue skies made it a gloriously beautiful day. My one regret was that there was no proper access out of the property through the thick hedge, making it nearly impossible to take pictures of the couple in the sunset, something I badly wanted to do. But where there is a will, there is a way. I managed to find a way to capture the couple at the tail end of the sunset, and it makes for some poignant photography.
As night fell, more fun and laughter filled the room as the couple took to the floor for their first dance together in what promises to be a fun-filled marriage!
