Grazina and Paul gave me an opportunity to travel beyond Cambridge and capture their Ely Old Hall wedding photography. I love being a Cambridge wedding photographer but it’s great to be able to see a little more of Cambridgeshire, too!
The couple were married on May 27 2018, at this recently renovated Jacobean manor house just outside Ely. The Old Hall was once owned by the Cromwell family – yes, that’s the Oliver Cromwell– and after many years as a farm it has been completely reconstructed by the family who now owns it.
The bride and her bridesmaids prepared for the ceremony in their matching monogrammed gowns while Paul took some time to relax with a coffee on the deck overlooking the lake. When it was time for the ceremony, the party made their way down the steps to the garden pavilion. Grazina wore an elegant gown, caught in at the waist with a silver ribbon, with delicate lace and a row of tiny buttons at the back. The bridesmaids looked beautiful in pale lilac.
Grazina and Paul wanted very natural photos, nothing too formal, which I think worked well with their wedding. I had the chance to get some great shots of the pavilion set against the wide-open landscapes and big skies near Ely. With the Cathedral omnipresent in the background.
After the ceremony was a drinks reception with pink champagne, followed by the wedding breakfast in the marquee with a string quartet. In keeping with the natural feel of this wedding, the couple chose a ‘naked’ cake, decorated with summer fruits. That’s a simple cake with no icing, just in case you were wondering!
As the evening came there was a live band and plenty of dancing. Congratulations Grazina and Paul, wishing you a long and happy marriage! And if you would like me to capture some Ely Old Hall wedding photography for you, please contact me.
