Bonnie and Gerry decided to book me to capture their Essex wedding photography and hold their wedding ceremony in their village church, just a stone’s throw from their house, in a quaint village near Saffron Walden. The lovely church quickly filled up with guests so much so that it was really packed to the rafters, with hardly any free space for guests, let alone myself.
Gerry had got to the church nice and early and welcomed the guests as they arrived. Bonnie made her way to the church on foot, accompanied by her dad and her bridesmaids, in the sunshine. It was quite a sight to see the little procession walk up the slight slope to the church, immaculate and lovely white dress for the bride and colourful pink and blue dresses for the bridesmaids.
The service went by very quickly and after the traditional confetti throwing, the wedding party followed by their friends and family made their way on foot to the couple’s garden where a marquee and a hog roast were awaiting everyone.
I can only describe the sight that greeted us when we arrived there as a totally cool boho wedding venue! The couple had dreamt it and created something amazing right in their back garden. That wedding would not have been out of place in Ibiza. Lanterns, fairy lights and bunting hanging from the trees, a giant deck chair, a hammock, rugs and straw bales everywhere for people to sit down all this set in the woods, with a champagne bar and the amazing smell of a spit roasting pig nearby. Wow.
The mood was very chilled. The group photos went very smoothly and the speeches took place inside the marquee in a very relaxed setting. The yummy looking wedding cake and the round tables in the marquee made me regret not to stay past the meal to photograph everyone’s interactions, but I left everyone in the knowledge that they would have a great time nevertheless.
A laidback couple, a boho chic wedding set in a relaxed location. Congratulations to Bonnie and Gerry for getting married and creating such a superb wedding day for you and your guests to remember. All I can say myself is that it was a fab Essex wedding photography day.
