So here we are, 2020, and having just turned 50, I felt I was in need of a serious lifestyle change.
The current state of affair was not great: I was overweight, unfit, often tired and suffering from migraines, I had medium-high blood pleasure and dodgy knees… I decided to use the second lockdown of 2020 to bring some change in my life and kick start a healthier month and lifestyle for the future.
Wednesday 4/11 – Height: 6ft2 / Weight: 15st 13 / Blood pressure: 158/87
The idea was a bit sketchy at first, but I decided on a few points:
– Try and exercise more often and for longer periods (stretch before and after)
– Drink more water throughout the day
– Stop drinking alcohol (or drink just one evening a week)
– Eat less and also less junk food (and stop snacking)
– Go to bed earlier
– Have less screen time
– Read more books, etc, etc
As lockdown was announced on November 2, 2020, I decided to start exercising slowly that Thursday 5/11 and Friday 6/11 at lunch to get into it little by little. I also requested a longer lunch break at work: 2 hours instead of the usual one, to be able to go on longer cycle rides. This was accepted, thus I had to start working one hour earlier, 8 am to 5 pm with 2 hours at lunch. Perfect.
I have decided to report every Friday evening about what happened in the week before.
