Event photographs
you will actually use.

Conferences, awards, launches, business dinners, and Christmas and summer parties. Speakers, networking, sponsors and the atmosphere of the room, delivered ready for your website, LinkedIn, sponsor reports and next year’s event marketing.

What you receive

Not just people
by a banner.

A common frustration with event photography is a large gallery that does not help afterwards. I plan the coverage around what you need to publish and report.

  • 01
Hero imagesThe handful of photographs you will lead with.
  • 02
Speakers and stageWide, medium and close, with clear expressions.
  • 03
    NetworkingNatural conversations, not staged handshakes.
  • 04
Sponsors and brandingBoards, stands and interactions, clean and readable.
  • 05
Venue and detailThe room, the scale, the programme and the table settings.

Who books me

Science, research
and AI.

A growing share of my event work comes from Cambridge’s research community: AI safety and AI research conferences, symposiums and fellowship programmes such as the ERA Fellowship, alongside university departments, Cambridge Judge Business School and the Cambridge Union.

The rooms are often historic, the light is often poor, and the speakers are often not used to cameras. I am used to all three.

Company parties

Christmas and
summer parties.

Not every company event has a lectern. I photograph Christmas parties in college halls and summer parties on the lawn: the drinks reception, the speeches, the awards and, later, the dancefloor.

Candid rather than posed, so the photographs show how the evening actually felt. Colleagues get a gallery they want to share, and you get images for next year’s invitation and the careers page.

Coverage and quotes

Planned around
your schedule.

Most events fall into one of three shapes: one to two hours for arrivals, networking and a short talk; three to four hours for the speakers and presentations; or the full day into the evening and the awards.

I quote from your schedule and always suggest the shortest coverage that still does the job. If your event runs several rooms at once, we plan it together. Travel within Cambridgeshire is included, and I am not VAT-registered, so the quote is the price.

Before the day

A short outline
saves the day.

I ask for the date, venue and timings, the moments that must be photographed, the VIPs and speakers who matter most, any sponsor requirements, any areas where photography is not allowed, and where the images will be used.

If you have a shot list, I follow it. If you do not, we write a simple one together. On the day I work in a documentary style: present enough to see everything, never in the way.

We’ve worked with Jean-Luc for our past two business events, and the results have been outstanding every time. He has an incredible eye for capturing the energy and emotion of the day, and he’s an absolute pleasure to work with. We couldn’t recommend him highly enough and look forward to working with him for years to come!

Chloe Ducker, Youpreneur

We've used Jean-Luc as the photographer for our company's Christmas Parties for the past few years and he's always done an excellent job. We've usually hosted our events in Cambridge colleges which can have a challenging array of lighting conditions, but this hasn't stopped us getting some great photos. Particularly appreciate the ability to take good candid shots rather than just posing everyone.

Finlay Knops-Mckim, Cambridge Design Partnership

I genuinely wanted to thank you for your extra-ordinary services throughout our retreat! I can’t express how happy our delegates left with your thoughtful, generous, and professional attitude! Thank you again, and keep rocking!

Practical questions

Planning your event coverage.

Can you prioritise sponsor and branding photographs?

Yes. Tell me which boards, banners, stands and moments matter, and I will make sure you have clean, readable images of each.

How do you photograph speakers?

Wide shots for context, mid shots for the story and close shots for expression, from angles that work for PR. I stay quiet during talks and move between sessions.

Can you do group photographs on the day?

Yes. I pick the moment with you, organise it quickly and keep it painless, whether it is the speakers, the award winners or the whole team.

What about dark venues and stage lighting?

College halls, theatres and hotel function rooms rarely have easy light. I am used to spotlights, coloured LEDs and mixed daylight, and the aim is flattering images that keep the atmosphere.

Can you deliver a fast selection for LinkedIn or the press?

Yes. A highlights set can be ready within 24 hours, with the full gallery in 3 to 5 working days.

Do you cover events outside Cambridge?

Yes. Cambridge and Cambridgeshire routinely, and I often travel to London for organisations that run events in both cities.
